The co-owner of a Hamtramck physical therapy company has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for defrauding Medicare of nearly $2 million.
Victor Jayasundera, 59, was sentenced Thursday by Judge Avern Cohn of U.S. District Courtto a 2½-year prison term, plus three years of supervised release. He also was ordered to pay $855,484 in restitution, jointly and severally with his co-defendants.
The other co-owner, Fatima Hassan, 44, of Dearborn, received a four-year sentence May 17 for her role.
