Patti's Comments: I was thinking about this all day today I just now saw this wonderful message from a friend and wanted to share it with you all. We are so lucky it was successful!
Subject: D-Day
Dear Friends,
June 6 is a date remembered by people all over the world. Why? Because that day in 1944 was the beginning of the end of the Nazi tyranny in Europe.
Encyclopedia Britannica summarizes that day very succinctly:
“During World War II, the Allied invasion of western Europe, which was launched on June 6, 1944 (the most celebrated D-Day of the war), with the simultaneous landing of U.S., British, and Canadian forces on five separate beachheads in Normandy, France. By the end of August 1944 all of northern France was liberated, and the invading forces reorganized for the drive into Germany, where they would eventually meet with Soviet forces advancing from the east to bring an end to the Nazi Reich.”
But, sadly, 67 years after that momentous effort, we hear less and less about
the prayers and the faith of those who were involved, and those millions who
were praying steadfastly for them across the globe. On June 6, 1944, President
Roosevelt sent our brave U.S. forces out under the covering of an earnest and
historic prayer. I have attached it in MP3 format.
Let’s not let this piece of history be forgotten. These words now apply to those men and women that are currently serving and protecting our great country. Please take the time to listen to the attached prayer.
Thank you to all that have served. This is the home of the free, because of the brave.
Semper Fi,
Paul
I love and truly believe in the last line of your post. Keep up the cool work . . . .
