It’s almost time for kids to head back-to-school, and while parents may be thinking about school supplies & extracurricular, they’re likely not focused on learning disabilities, which are estimated to affect 15-20% of the U.S. population.
Though learning disabilities, or LDs, often go undiagnosed, according to the National Center for Learning Disabilities, the first six weeks of the school year are critical to ensure a year of learning isn’t lost.
Having struggled with dyslexia & dysgraphia throughout school, North Haven resident Josh Piscitello received the 2012 Allegra Ford Scholarship, an award from the National Center for Learning Disabilities bestowed upon outstanding high school students with learning disabilities bound for college.
