Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to share this month’s blog, “Finding Support in the Midst of a Tempest” by Lori Mars, JD. She currently divides her time working in research at the Department of Family Medicine of the Keck School of Medicine of USC, and at the National Center on Elder Abuse.
Nearly four months ago, during the NCEA’s World Elder Abuse Awareness Day activities and “Lifting up Voices” campaign, Art Mason, Director of the Upstate Elder Abuse Center at Lifespan in Rochester, New York, reached out to the NCEA to share the story of one of his clients who experienced severe isolation, financial, and sexual abuse (the least detected and disclosed form of elder abuse). Jane, now 80, still struggles with the trauma of the past few months, but with the help of Lifespan counselors, is regaining strength and accessing support to justice and healing.

Sincerely,
NCEA Team
