Due to a number of residents experiencing mild respiratory symptoms, an outbreak has been declared at Rainycrest Long-Term Care here. Visiting residents is permitted, but do not visit if you are experiencing any symptoms of ill health, such as a cough, stuffy nose and sore throat, fever, and/or fatigue and weakness.
If you are visiting an ill resident, visit in their room and not in a common area. Social activities will continue as planned until further notice for all residents free of respiratory symptoms. The Outbreak Management Team at Rainycrest will continue to monitor the situation, and a further update will be provided at a later date. If you have any questions or concerns, call Jodi Jewell, infection control nurse, at 274-4835, Edith Bodnar at 274-2605, or Laurie Ball at 274-2625. Meanwhile, due to a number of cases of gastroenteritis in the long-term care unit of the Rainy River Health Centre, visiting there will be restricted to family members only until further notice. Family members are asked to restrict their visit to the resident’s room, and refrain from visiting other residents while at the Rainy River Health Centre. All group programming by Activation also has been cancelled until further notice. The Infection Control committee will continue to monitor the situation, and a further update will be provided at a later date.
