2013 1L Summer Internship Program Prudential Financial, Inc.

The American Bar Association is pleased to partner with Prudential Financial, Inc. (Prudential) to provide a meaningful summer internship opportunity to a highly-motivated first-year law student.  Through this partnership, the American Bar Association will select a student to join the 2013 summer law intern class at Prudential for a 10-week internship at Prudential’s offices, for a stipend of approximately $10,000.  Internship positions will be located in the New Jersey tri-state area. A position maybe available in Dallas, TX.

The Arc is pleased to begin accepting applications for the Paul Marchand Internship in Disability Public Policy.  The interns in this program will have the opportunity to learn about how federal public policy and regulation impacts the daily lives of people with disabilities and their ability to be as independent as possible.  The attached flyer has more information about the program.

Applications for the summer session will be accepted until March 8, 2013.   Please feel free to share this opportunity with qualified candidates. To help offset the costs of working in Washington, DC, the internship fund will provide a $3,000 stipend to interns interested in pursuing a career in disability public policy. 

The fund was created to honor Paul Marchand’s distinguished leadership in the disability community and to encourage a new generation of leaders.  Many thanks to United Cerebral Palsy who spearheaded the fundraising efforts and the many CCD organizations, leaders within the The Arc, friends, and colleagues of Paul’s that supported the fund.

Background on YiD Internship Program

In 2013, with the vital support of the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation (MEAF), USICD is launching its first internship program focusing on youth with disabilities who are interested in international affairs careers. The project follows from a vision, core to USICD’s mission, to increase disability inclusion in U.S. foreign affairs by supporting future generations of Americans to invest their skills and talents in this field.

The Youth in Development Program (YiD) will bring a handful of talented college students, graduate students, and recent graduates with disabilities to Washington, DC for nine weeks in the summer of 2013 to expose them to the international development arena. Participants will go through a one week training course and then work with a major international development agency for eight weeks to learn more about foreign aid and development. Throughout the program, interns will be able to participate in trainings and workshops on career development topics, in addition to attend hearings in Congressional Foreign Relations Committees and attend meetings at the State Department and other agencies. Interns will receive a stipend, travel expenses, and fully-accessible housing.
